Mr. Samuel Martínez donated a plot of land to build the new parish where the street 7th and the way 7th intersect. Nevertheless, the committee opted for a plot of land closer to the downtown to facilitate the access to the parishioners. Then, Mr. José Dolores Rodriguez donated a house-lot where the sanctuary of our Helping Mary Parish is actually.
The first plot of land was donated by Father Ciro Alfonso Gómez to build houses for all workers who were working in the new parish.
On February 11, 1957, Mons. Pedro José Rivera Mejía built this new parish which was simple and small. It was covered with a metal armor that the cathedral sued in its first filial parish.
He architect Guillermo Collazos with the Father Luis Ricardo Serrano, who was graduated in sacred art in Rome, drew up the designs for the new modern parish. It has a Gothic style roof and opened laterals which are decorated with beautiful gardens.

The San Gil cemetery was surrounded by many houses and many habitants. This was the reason why Mons. Rivera Mejía built the Vicar of Risen Christ on August 3, 1966. He appointed the first vicar who was Father Elias Martínez, but Father Gilberto Becerra succeed Father Elias in 1968. The construction was led by the Priest Hernando Vargas and the deacon Laureano Sarmiento Acelas with the help of the parishioners. Because of the lack of space for new parishioners, it was necessary to expand the temple. So P. Juan Bautista Sánchez., Pedro Elías Martínez, Salomón Pineda M. Horacio Ortiz Prada, José Roberto Neira Ayala among others made this work.
The new Bishop Monsignor Ciro Alfonso Gómez erected the parish of the Risen Christ definitely on August 3, 1976 and left father Sánchez as first Parish Priest.
The Dr. Guillermo Collazos drew the design of the temple according to the Parish Priest specifications. The construction of the new temple began on July 16, 1984 according to the corner stone blessed by the Bishop.
The Father Vargas followed Father Horacio Ortiz Prada as a Parish Priest who finished the construction with its original crypts. For this reason the Bishop Leonardo Gómez consecrated the new temple on November 1, 1992.

Nonetheless, Father Salomón Pineda finished the temple completely. He sent to make the walls and the gates, the sacristy, the main gates of the temple, the sanctuary, and the floors. The last structure of the temple was finished and inaugurated on March 25, 1994 when the rites were translated from the little chapel of the cemetery to the new temple.

These churches were built many years ago. They have been rebuilt but they conserve the original structure.
People worship the Saints and the virgin because of the popular believing about miracles like curing diseases and other kind of prayers.
